Vision

As microcontrollers and sensors become smaller, smarter, cheaper, and connected, more opportunities are  emerging to create links with the physical world. Wearable devices, autonomous sensors or other functional units are driving a tremendous growth in the internet of things.

New specialized products like pedometers, connected sensors, smart toys etc, are being brought to market every day.

The Problem

All new embedded smart devices have a number of elements  in common: a packaged physical device (containing a controller, a wireless communication module, a power unit), a mobile app, and a web site. What sets them apart is the embedded software and particular endpoints (eg: sensors, peripherals etc). To bring a new device to market, companies invest significant resources reinventing the wheel by recreating the common elements.

The Solution

We thought about a generic framework that includes a customizable mobile app, a web site, a network, and a variety of "blank" devices that can be used and re-used for different needs. Anyone can select one of these devices and either create a brand new type of device or simply upload existing software into both the "blank" and mobile devices to recreate a complete unit.

There is a significant similarity between traditional computing devices and small embedded units. Just as computers and smart phones provide a repurposable platform, small embedded units could be reprogrammed and configured for different needs.

Our Users

There are two categories of users: makers and consumers. A maker can be an embedded-device software programmer, a signal analyst, or anyone with an idea for a product. The idea-developers can use the "blanks" as raw-data collectors, share their data with others and potentially contract software engineers, analysts or other companies to develop a new product. Once a new software is created and published in HappShop, it becomes available for anyone to download and use.

Our Focus

From the technology side, we focus on small low power devices and adhoc networks. We strive to be the platform everyone uses to connect ideas to reality.
